Northern Beaches Hospital: One year to go!
The Healthscope team headed to the top of the hospital this month to mark ‘one year to go’ until Northern Beaches Hospital opens its doors in October 2018.
Taking the lift up to the helipad, the project team joined staff at Manly and Mona Vale Hospitals, builders, residents and Forest High School students, to mark the special occasion.
Cathy Morris, Clinical Nurse Educator, Manly Hospital Emergency Department said: “It was nice to be a part of the celebration and we even had an opportunity to take a look at the Emergency Department, which is looking fantastic. As well as the different patient areas, I can’t believe the amount of space for storage and staff amenities.”
Northern Beaches Hospital Project Director Deborah Latta said: “There is a huge amount of work to do in 2018 and the Healthscope team still have a great deal of energy and commitment to get us to opening.
“Working with the Local Health District, next year will be about transitioning as many staff from Manly and Mona Vale Hospitals as possible, before we recruit to the remaining positions.
“There is equipment to be delivered, IT systems to be installed, training and orientation to provide, planning for patient transfer and much, much more.
“Most people are now counting down the days until Christmas, but the Healthscope team is fixated on the countdown until we open.
“This time next year we look forward to opening the doors to one of the best hospitals in Australia.”
